Volunteers

Snowy Hydro SouthCare co-ordinate many public relations activities and events throughout the year to raise awareness and funds that are vital to keeping the Rescue Helicopter in the air, saving lives - the success and continuance of these activities and events are reliant on the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Volunteers.

Snowy Hydro SouthCare volunteers play an extremely important role in providing support and assistance at our major annual events; Base Open Day, Gala Dinner & Auction and the Corporate Golf Day as well as helping with the Canberra Milk School Visit Program, barbecues and merchandise and information stands.

The rewards for volunteering with Snowy Hydro SouthCare are endless; not only are there many opportunities to meet wonderful people and enjoy new and unique experiences but you can feel proud that every time you see Snowy Hydro SouthCare fly overhead, your support has meant that the patient inside will get the best of care.

Volunteer, Russ Whitty (pictured), speaks about the Snowy Hydro SouthCare Volunteer program.

"I see the service as an essential resource for the region, and I am proud to be associated with it.
Keeping the helicopter flying requires a good deal of funding, so all of our fund-raising activities are important. At the same time, there is a good spirit among the volunteers so that we enjoy what we are doing, be it a sausage sizzle or office work.  I get the most pleasure from the opportunities to bring the helicopter to the public such as Base Open Day and primary school visits, these help a lot to raise community awareness of the service".
